At the recent Americans for Prosperity (AFP) Defending the American Dream Summit, radio host Hugh Hewitt  discussed his youthful years: “Iran had fallen to fanatics… Afghanistan was on the brink of invasion…we had double-digit inflation and double-digit unemployment,” he said.  “That was my college graduation environment, so welcome to the real world!”

Currently, Hewitt said that the legal system of tort and trial lawyers is “killing our economy.”  “It’s not just the medical system, though we see that each one of us in this room pays the cost of an out-of-control medical system… if you go to any place that entertains you, you are paying the cost of a crazy legal system,” Hewitt said.  “We bear the costs of a legal system that simply crushes productivity, innovation, and efficiency.  We’ve gotta change that.”

Internationally, Hewitt called Israel our “best ally in the Middle East.” He told the audience that “When Israel strikes Iran, we must stand with them.”
