Ward Churchill Saga Continues

It looks like Ward Churchill’s lawsuit may cost him far more than it paid.
The Denver Post reports today that the University of Colorado “is seeking to recover more than $52,000 from Ward Churchill for costs the school incurred fighting a lawsuit filed by the former ethnic-studies professor.”
Earlier this year the former ethnic-studies professor lost his suit calling for damages and a return to his professorship at the UC Boulder, receiving instead a nominal $1 in damages from the jury. However, Judge Larry Naves then “vacated” the jury’s verdict, claiming that the Colorado Regents, which acted as a “quasi-judicial entity,” is immune to any lawsuit from Churchill regardless of any First Amendment implications.
Churchill technically owes his own attorney about $1.2 million in fees, but won’t necessarily have to pay up, according to the Denver Post  .
