A student socialist group at City University of New York (CUNY) demanded that the university eliminate the university’s ROTC (Reserve Office Training Corps) program because war-fighters should be fighting war, not be on a college campus. The Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) demanded that ROTC cadets have no business in being on the university campus.
The student group have previously protested against gun rights and demanded for the removal of police officers and the army from the campus.
It may escape these students’ notice that the ROTC program represents a source of funding from the federal government and universities do not want another source of funding to dry up.
