Straws In The Wind

We usually write about bad news in academia, of which there is no shortage. Nevertheless, in keeping with the spirit of the era, we must make note of signs of hope and change.

On that score, there is some cheerful news:

  • Accomplished historian and unabashed conservative Steve Hayward [1] has been teaching a course at Georgetown for several years;
  • Heritage Foundation policy analyst Derek Scissors [2], a sturdy proponent of free markets, teaches a course on corruption at George Washington University; and
  • Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government is actually recruiting Republicans for its graduate program. That might bring the percentage up to 15.

Malcolm A. Kline is the Executive Director of Accuracy in Academia [3].
