After reports began circulating that CBS News parent Paramount was in talks to settle at $10 billion lawsuit filed by Donald Trump over the editing of a ‘60’ Minutes interview during the presidential campaign, the executive producer of the program spoke out according to the The New York Times.

The Times reported that Owens was irate at a staff meeting about the possibility of a settlement with Trump.

“There have been reports in the media about a settlement and/or apology,” Owens reportedly said. “The company knows I will not apologize for anything we have done.”

CBS News has come under fire for what appears to be the editing of remarks Harris made during her interview with ‘60’ Minutes correspondent Bill Whitaker regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Owens disputed that according to the Times telling the staff that “The edit is perfectly fine; let’s put that to bed so we can get on with our lives,”

Paramount is trying to gain approval for its merger with Skydance Media and may feel that settling the lawsuit will improve its chances before a Trump administration FCC.

If there is a settlement it will mark the third such agreement Trump has reached with media companies since winning reelection in November following  Disney’s ABC News unit and Meta which have paid Trump a combined $37 million that will go to his future presidential library.
