CNN anchor Abby Phillip, who is making the podcast rounds promoting her new book on Jesse Jackson, admitted that the network leans center-left, but tries to promote a range of voices.

“Well, look, I would say it’s fair to say that CNN, we’re not Fox News. But we’re also not MSNBC. We’re probably center-left, and I think that has a lot to do with our audience. But we-, watch-, when you actually watch CNN, we have Republicans on every hour of the day. Every single one, I’m pretty sure, maybe with very few exceptions, but virtually every hour of the day,” Phillip explained. “So they’re not always on in the context that we put them on, but we as a network have a diversity of viewpoints on the air, more so than our competitors.”

She made her remarks while appearing on “The Breakfast Club” which is hosted by Charlamagne tha God.

Phillip also acknowledged the criticism of the “liberal media” but stated that extremes exist on both sides. “And so, I mean, Liberal media is a criticism that I think we hear a lot, but there’s also way more liberal media and way more conservative media. And so I don’t-, I don’t know, I don’t put that much stock in it. I think it’s a little bit a reflection of the cable news audience, but I also think that there are extremes on both sides, and we’re not in the extremes.”

CNN looks far less extreme when compared to MSNBC, soon to be MS Now after the network separates from Comcast on Nov. 15.

The veteran CNN anchor also defended her decision to have MAGA guests on her show.“I get a lot of criticism from the left, from people who are like, ‘Why does she have MAGA people on the show?’ And it’s like, well, you should know what they are saying,” Phillip told Charlamagne the God. “Half the country voted for Trump and for Trumpism, and it’s not helpful to be completely unaware of what is happening in those media ecosystems.”

On the Pod Save America podcast, she said that MAGA acolytes live in information silos.

“I talk to tried and true, dyed-in-the-wool MAGA people every single day and, so yeah, I understand where they come from,” Phillip said. “I understand the information silos that they’re in that make it hard to see outside of it, and it’s not that complicated. I mean, I think that they like winning, and Trump is winning in their minds.”

To be fair, CNN has strived to be more balanced than MSNBC, though that may not be saying much.
