Increased security, in light of protests, have raised the cost of hosting controversial speakers such as ‘pharma bro’ Martin Shkreli, Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and scholar Charles Murray. The university estimated that it costs at least $10,000 to provide security, bomb sniffing dogs and the like for each speech on the university campus.
