Using taxpayer-allotted funding, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s chancellor’s office paid $5,000 to host an adult film actress’s visit to the college campus. Nina Hartley was the guest speaker, and the event was not publicized online. Instead, the event was publicized to students through flyers distributed or posted on its campus.
After public outcry, the chancellor, Joe Gow, apologized for the event and said he will personally reimburse the university. He also invited an anti-pornography addiction group, Fight the New Drug, to visit the campus and give their perspective on the ills of pornography.
