Ramen Falls Victim to Oneworld Lounge ESG Policy

During a recent visit to the Oneworld lounge in Incheon, South Korea I was taken aback by a sign that stated that ramen would not be available due to the company’s ESG policy.

Apparently ramen or instant noodles contribute to climate change through their use of environmental unfriendly packaging and ingredients. I don’t think that’s on the top of mind of the millions of people who consume ramen on a regular basis and certainly isn’t at Asiana Airlines where ramen is available in different flavors in their lounge at Incheon.

If Oneworld which is an alliance of 15 airlines that include American, British Airways, Japan Airlines and Cathay Pacific is so concerned about ESG then what about the other food they serve and how it is cooked an prepared? Thet certainly aren’t using green energy in their airport kitchens.

So if you’re traveling internationally and have a hankering for ramen, skip the Oneworld lounge and their politics.
