The effort to rename public schools has apparently given administrators of them a new lease on life. “A sign reading Mockingbird Elementary was put up on Stonewall Jackson Elementary School on Monday, with the name change officially going into effect in July,” Fox News 4 reported. “Dallas ISD tweeted out photos of the work and said district staff have been working hard to create signs for schools with new names.”
“The board voted last year to change the name of three schools named after Confederate leaders.” Evidently, this new extracurricular activity has replaced the bake sale as a means of driving up school spirit.
