The statue of Founding Father Thomas Jefferson was vandalized this past week, in the anti-statue mania that is gripping college campuses and cities across the U.S.:

The statue, which stands just outside of UVA’s Rotunda, was splashed with red paint sometime last weekend, according to the Charlottesville Daily Progress.

Thomas Jefferson, although a slave owner, was an abolitionist. He is responsible for and sponsored abolitionist legislation in the U.S. congress.
