Two Connecticut high school students placed first and second at the state’s girl’s track championships in the 55-meter dash, but the reason behind the controversy is that they are transgender girls. Meaning, these students were not born as women and have male physiological characteristics. Therefore, these competitors had a competitive advantage over their female peers.
