The University of Colorado-Boulder’s sociology department is offering a three-credit hour course entitled “Whiteness Studies,” this upcoming fall semester. The course has had a waiting list in previous years, as the course’s limit is around fifty students each semester it is taught.
The course discusses how Caucasians can be oblivious to issues for people of color, such as colorblindness, and how “white privilege” (i.e. Caucasians have a sense of superiority in society) affects society.
