The president of the University of Memphis, David Rudd, said that he supports the drive for the “living wage,” or in other words, raising minimum wage higher for typically low-wage employees. Labor unions push for the “living wage” in order to boost their membership. However, an increase in minimum wage can lead to layoffs.
