UPenn Professor Under Fire for Comments on Minority Graduation Rankings

Amy Wax, a law professor at the University of Pennsylvania, is now the target of a petition calling for her termination due to comments on law school graduation demographics and African-American law students. Wax was speaking to an audience on graduation rankings of students and pointed out that African-American students struggle to place high in the rankings.

The comment, where she said, “Here’s a very inconvenient fact […] I don’t think I’ve ever seen a black student graduate in the top quarter of the [Penn Law School] class and rarely, rarely in the top half,” is the source of criticism by the petition organizers.

Wax has since stood by her comments and said that data backs her comment.
