A student group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison wants to put a disclaimer at a statue of President Abraham Lincoln of his role in the Dakota 38 “massacre.” The university rebuffed the demand because President Lincoln was a restraining force in the incident, where Dakota Native Americans were executed after allegedly raping women.
