LEWISBURG, Penn. The Bucknell University Conservatives
Club will build a 9/11 Memorial on Bucknell University s campus on
Friday, September 9 starting at 11am.  The memorial will consist of
2,996 American flags, one for each victim of the 9/11
attacks.

BUCC members will be collecting donations to benefit the Red Cross
hurricane relief effort.  Donors can sponsor flags for a minimum $1
donation per flag.  Each sponsored flag will have a tag with space
for  donors to write their names, the names of  friends or
loved ones, or short messages.  The flag memorial will be located on
the uphill lawn of the
Elaine Langone Center, at the corner of
Seventh Street and Moore Avenue in
Lewisburg.

Donations will be collected by BUCC members in the Elaine Langone
Center Mall, located across from the Bucknell Bookstore, from
11am
to 1pm Monday, September 5 through Thursday, September 8.  Donations
will also be collected on Friday, September 9 at the
memorial.

We must never forget what happened four years ago, said BUCC
President
Matt Gabler.  We want this memorial to remind
everyone what our nation has come through and the price that has been
paid for freedom.  With that in mind, we also want to give back and
raise money for a whole new set of American victims who need our help
today.

BUCC Vice-President for Special Events Chris Imbriano added, We see
how badly our fellow Americans need the Red Cross right in the aftermath
of Hurricane Katrina.  I hope that our efforts can help the Red
Cross continue its work on the
Gulf Coast.

The Bucknell University Conservatives Club was founded in September
2001 to combat the systematic exclusion of conservative, libertarian, and
classical liberal ideas from the University.  It publishes a
well-known magazine, The Counterweight, and has hosted many speakers,
most recently the conservative feminist and author Dr. Christina Hoff
Sommers.  One of the most successful student political organizations
in the country, it was featured on the cover of the May 25, 2003 New York
Times Magazine and has also received coverage from other broadcast
and print media including MTV, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, the Washington
Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette, and
