A Chinese exchange student at the University of Maryland, Shuping Yang, said that America had “fresh air” and it led to criticism from fellow Chinese students at the university. She was referring to both the air quality of American air, compared to Chinese air pollution problems, and the freedom of speech enjoyed in the States.
