Apparently, Georgetown University does not arm its campus police officers with sidearms, but with pepper spray and batons. One group at the university is petitioning the university to change that practice.
The student group, GU Advocates for a Responsible Defense, advocates for the arming of campus police officers to deter potential mass shooters. Other students oppose the petition, citing police officers and racial profiling as an example of armed police gone wrong.
