Police Report Appears to Differ from Portland State University Student Racism Claim

A food cart run by the company Chicken and Guns was recently embroiled in a social media controversy, where one of the co-owners was accused of saying racial slurs at a black Portland State University student. The co-owner has been put on leave, but the Portland police report may back up the co-owner, not the student accuser.

The accuser claimed the co-owner, Dustin Knox, used racial slurs. But, the police report said Knox and another individual had described a black male who said racial slurs at two different locations within 2 miles of each other.

The media, and the social media mob, should take greater care in reporting the facts in news stories first, without bowing to social media hysteria that is now commonplace.
