Undocumented Students Thwart Immigration Law at Rutgers

Not by resisting arrest but by chasing ICE out of a career fair where agency representatives were going to recruit the next generation of agents to enforce immigration law. “In a small victory for the sanctuary movement, recruiters from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) won’t have a booth at the Rutgers University-Newark Government and Public Service Fair,” Hank Reichman writes on the academe blog maintained by the American Association of University Professors (AAUP). “Students from RU Dreamers, a group for undocumented immigrants and their allies, organized an online ‘ICE is not welcome here’ petition calling on the university to withdraw its invitation to the agency to recruit applicants at the fair.”

As it turns out, the agency itself withdrew from the event.
