University of Michigan changed its disciplinary policies regarding free speechafter the Department of Justice announced its support of a lawsuit against the university. The lawsuit in question claims that the university’s disciplinary actions regarding speech were too broad and could be easily abused by the administration. The Department of Justice weighed in and said it would be supportive of the lawsuit’s plaintiffs.
