The University of Minnesota, a publicly-funded university, offers illegal immigrant students scholarships. The state passed its own version of the ‘Dream Act,’ which enables students who immigrated illegally to the United States to receive legal immigration status in 2013. The Congress has yet to pass similar legislation on a national level after President Donald Trump rescinded his predecessor’s executive order, which granted legal immigration status to these immigrants. That executive order is known as the Deferred Action on Child Arrivals, or DACA.
