The Housatonic Community College, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut (about an hour and a half northeast of New York City), fired Charles Meyrick for giving college administrators a Nazi salute and shouting at them in German. He used to be an assistant professor of business and economics, and the outburst came during a faculty and administrative meeting about the state’s university system’s consolidation plans. Apparently, his behavior had become more erratic as of late, which led to Meyrick’s initial suspension after the Nazi salute incident and then his firing last week.
