A recent trend for applicants to higher education institutions is to include a “diversity statement” with one’s application, which outlines what the applicant has done to promote or increase diversity in prior workplaces. Some institutions in the University of California system (UCLA, UC-San Diego and UC-Irvine) have adopted this for their open mathematics professorship positions.
