Although racist chants are insensitive and should not be uttered, University of Oklahoma president David Boren expelled two students caught on video in a racist chant. The fraternity they belonged to also was sanctioned by the university as news spread. But, free speech is free speech, and the American courts have said racist speech is free speech. We may not like it, but it also doesn’t help that President Barack Obama encourages suppression of free speech.
